One of my fonder memories of childhood is the excitement I felt on Christmas Eve, and the anticipation of the presents that would be waiting for me under the tree in the morning.

Unbeknownst to me, my father did not share my excitement. After I went to bed, he was faced with the task of dealing with all of the boxes marked as RTA (Ready To Assemble). It wasn’t until I had a son of my own that I realized what my dad went through.

Today, a host of products are offered as RTA, even cabinets. But to us here at Kent Moore Cabinets, RTA means ‘Ready To Admire’. All of our cabinets are manufactured and assembled by our craftsmen. This allows our products to be KCMA certified. The assembly of any product is only as good as the person assembling it.

There was a time in the cabinet industry when DIY meant a trip to the lumberyard to buy plywood, drawer guides, and a can of stain, so you could “Do It Yourself”.  Today, it has a different meaning.  DIY, here at Kent Moore Cabinets, means ‘Design It Yourself’, with a little help from KMC, of course.

Kent Moore Cabinets, a Texas company founded in 1971 by Aggie graduate Kent Moore, celebrated the end of the year by recognizing exceptional employees.

From: AT HOME MAGAZINE - 2016 ISSUE

The only constant in life is change. The same is true for the cabinet industry. Style is fluid; constantly changing, evolving at a pace equal to the speed of our lives. Whether an in-town loft or a relaxed suburban retreat, our home is an extension of ourselves, and the cabinets in it are an extension of our lifestyle. As a cabinet manufacturer, we must constantly find new ways to marry product diversity with the cutting edge design elements that today’s market demands.

Building a new home today is quite different than it was in years gone by. From the standpoint of design, the line between cabinets and furniture has become blurred. Many pieces, once relegated to a furniture store, can now be designed and built along with the rest of your cabinets by your cabinet manufacturer.

Kent Moore Cabinets is one such manufacturer with the design flexibility and manufacturing techniques to create those specialty pieces that complete the perfect living environment.  One of the components that once differentiated furniture from cabinets is finish. The days of selecting from the five available stain colors are in the distant past.

As a Texas A&M University Education major with his sights set on becoming a biology teacher and coach in 1971, Kent Moore decided to subsidize his college education by subcontracting to do cabinet and trim work in the Bryan-College Station area. Kent’s abilities, coupled with a vibrant growth period in the region, quickly turned his part-time employment into a flourishing full-time business: Kent Moore Cabinets, Ltd.

“In the early years,” explained Teresa Galliher, Vice President of Marketing and Human Resources, “Kent, along with two employees, would move equipment from job to job to build cabinets on-site. At that time, production capacity was limited to installations in two houses each week. Over the years, we’ve grown and streamlined the process in a way that allows us to build 700-1000 cabinets a day and install complete cabinets in approximately 125 homes a week.”

“We’ve always looked to provide the best quality and service in the custom homebuilding market,” Ms. Galliher said. “And in so doing, our commitment to craftsmanship, dependability, innovation and willingness to change has put us in the position to be pioneers in the custom cabinet industry. Our cabinets are all custom made, not modular and don’t contain any fillers. You’ll find them in custom homes throughout the state.”

Pros and Cons To Including An Island In A Kitchen Redesign

Written By: Ashley Sullivan
TexasLiving Magazine

Kitchen islands are becoming staples in new homes and are even being added in most kitchen remodels.  Kitchens are often the center of homes and serve as a gathering place for friends and family.  With open floor plans, kitchens are also much more visible than ever before. If you're planning on building a new home or remodeling your current home, here are a few things you might consider when deciding to add a kitchen island or not.

Hundreds of kids and their families were swept up in the fairytale imagery that is HomeAid’s 2014 Project Playhouse, at the recent Lake-A-Palooza community event held at Towne Lake, a Caldwell Community in northwest Houston.

Coventry Homes/Plantation Homes (MHI) constructed a castle that is so realistic it appears to have jumped from the pages of a child’s storybook and landed right at their feet.

The excitement was contagious, inspiring looks of anticipation for knights and kings and dragons to appear.

Local Company Aiming to Hire Veterans

BRYAN - More than 500 people work at Kent Moore Cabinets, and managers say they're looking to add to their work force.

Teresa Galliher, a vice president within the company, says she's hoping veterans will apply for their current job openings.

"People getting out of the service, they do well if they get jobs immediately. I think they have a harder time assimilating back in, from what I understand, if it takes a while for them to get a job," said Galliher. "We are actively looking for machine operators at this point."

David Frierson was in the Marine Corps for nine years, and he's a recent addition to the company. He was stationed in Japan, and he moved to Texas to get his Aggie ring.
